2017 Lunar Kanza – Saturday, August 12th
Lunar Kanza is not a race…it’s a 50-mile fun, leisure night-time bike ride and 13.3 mile night run, conducted under a full moon on the gravel roads surrounding Emporia, Kansas. The ride utilizes an out-and-back format, while the run employs a lollipop route, which allows both riders and runners the option of turning around at any point along the course and making it shorter. The Lunar Kanza Ride & Run will begin and end at the intersection of Merchant Street and 8th Avenue, in beautiful downtown Emporia, Kansas. The ride will utilize a “floating” start time, while the run will begin at 8:00 PM. Participants are encouraged to begin their ride anytime between 6:00pm and 8:00pm, with the intent of finishing between the hours of 10:00pm and 11:00pm. (Don’t begin too early, or you will miss riding under the full moon. Begin your ride too late, and you’ll miss the post-ride block party.) Join us as we enjoy Friends, Fun, a Full Moon and the Flint Hills!
